Henbont, meaning old bridge in Welsh, is a traditional Welsh hill farm that has been farmed by our family since 1870. We have a small flock of Welsh mountain sheep which are grazed on the Black Mountain, as has been the custom for centuries. Wool from our sheep has been used in the cabin to make cushions and for insulation.

Henbont has an ancient woodland, Coed Yr Henbont, which consists of oak, larch, beech and ash trees. These were traditionally used in the construction of ships, houses and horse drawn carriages. We have records showing wood being auctioned as far back as 1875! The cabin itself has been constructed using timber from Coed Yr Henbont.  

In the woodland is a mysterious earth mound, its origins no one is 100% sure of. In the 70's it was listed as a former motte, timber, castle site, then in 2009 it was considered to be a natural formation but legend has it as a sacred site, possibly even a burial mound. Who knows! One thing is certain, it is a lovely place with its beautiful trees and sense of calm.

The fenced woodland gives you a private space to explore, play and slow down at Henbont Cabin. After a day wandering the countryside, gather around the large outdoor table for a meal, then choose your evening rhythm: curl up in the snug, settle beside the wood burner, or watch the sunset from the hot tub.
